Great Day for Parrilla -- 5 Hits

It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Sam Parrilla -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Civic Stadium and paced the 11-10 Emeralds win over the Tacoma Cubs.

After his dynamite batting performance, the Eugene right fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."

His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Sam Parrilla hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Larry Colton in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

For the season, Parrilla is currently batting .423 with 4 home runs and 22 RBIs. In 41 games he has reached base at a .513 rate and scored 17 runs to date.
