Eddie Smith of the Duluth-Superior Dukes shut out the Huron Cubs, 1-0, at Wade Stadium, holding them to 5 hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts.
Pressed for comments on his club's defeat, Huron skipper <Adam Johnson:coach#618> called the outing from Smith "a jewel."
"The way Smith was pitching, it would have been tough for anyone to beat him," he said.
