Kmet Gives St. Petersburg Goose Eggs

The St. Petersburg Cardinals were almost helpless in their 4-0 loss to the Tampa Tarpons and hurler Michael Kmet. Kmet kept the Cardinals confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Kmet," St. Petersburg manager <Jamie Ball:coach#507> said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 18-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Kmet said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

This season, Kmet shows a 3-1 record in 8 games, 54.1 innings, 50 strikeouts, and a 1.33 ERA.
