Quad Cities Befuddled by Burke in 3-0 Loss

In an outstanding mound performance, Danville Warriors starter Patrick Burke fired a complete-game shutout against the Quad Cities Angels at Danville Field.

Burke was the key to the 3-0 Danville win. The 23-year-old right-hander was in high spirits for much of the game, his mood largely unfazed by the 1 hit and 1 walk he allowed.

"1 hit?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout."

On the season, Burke has compiled a 8-0 mark with a 3.01 ERA in 11 starts. In pitching 80.2 innings he has 59 strikeouts and 33 walks while limiting the opposition to a .207 batting average.

Burke Shackles Burlington

The Burlington Bees manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Danville Warriors. The Bees were overpowered by Danville starter Patrick Burke, who hurled his club to victory, 4-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said.

Over 9 innings, Burke blanked Burlington on 5 hits with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Burke said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

This season, Burke has compiled a 4-0 record with a 3.89 ERA.
