Columbus Bats Silenced by Abbott
Larry Abbott was dynamite at Rickwood Field, blowing away the Columbus Astros in a shutout victory. The <Birmingham A's:team#50> starter had everything working as he held the Astros to 6 hits in the 5-0 win.
"He was pure nasty out there today," said Columbus skipper <Jake DuPont:coach#334>. "I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing."
Abbott finished the game with 6 strikeouts and no walks.
Abbott has made 7 starts so far this year and put up a 4-2 won-lost record with a 2.59 ERA. In 48.2 innings he has allowed 48 hits, walked 9 and struck out 36.
